Preserve the History of a Family Game

Memory and documented rules can coexist.

A useful distinction

A family may remember a game differently from its printed instructions. Both can be recorded if their status is clear. A recalled house rule should not be silently presented as the publisher’s original design.

Put it into practice

Save the title, edition and available instructions. Record personal memories as attributed recollections, with permission before sharing identifiable stories. Keep a house-rule note separate from the original rules so a later reader understands which version is being described.
