A useful distinction
A museum record may describe an object’s date, maker, materials and collection context. Some fields can be uncertain or incomplete. The object’s presence in a collection does not establish that a similar modern item is appropriate for present-day play.
Put it into practice
Read the description and qualifiers beside the image. Note the institution and object identifier when available. Treat the entry as a cultural or historical record, not product-use instructions, a current safety assessment or a price recommendation.
